Firm for the Culture | Three Ways to Navigate the "In Between"
Tips for Thriving in the Space Between Who You Were and Who You're Meant to Be
Ever found yourself in the “in between”?
You’re far from who you used to be.
But not quite where you want to be.
And you haven’t the faintest idea of the steps to getting where you need to be.
You’re not alone.
If I’m being honest, that’s where I found myself recently, hovering in that peculiar space between who I was and who I'm meant to become.
It's an unsettling place to be, but I've come to realize that there's beauty in the in-between.
So as we navigate this space in which we temporarily reside…
I want to share three tips in thriving in the transition.

When we're in the in-between, it can feel like we're floating adrift without much direction.
It may also feel like we have more questions than answers.
“What are my passions?”
“What are my values?”
“Who is the person I want to become?”
Embrace these questions and let yourself explore the meandering journey to the answers.
For you are closer to to finding the “you” you are meant to be.
When I start to have questions like this, I reach out to family members and childhood friends; they remind me of how the younger, more carefree “me” used to be.
Rehashing past stories of my precocious younger self helps me get back to a time before the internal critic influenced my decisions.
By exploring these questions, we can begin to uncover our purpose and chart a course towards our future, more grounded, selves.
Navigating the in-between can feel lonely and isolating.
But you don't have to go it alone.
Whether it’s with therapy (shout out to Betterhelp), or with a business coach or your best friends, surrounding yourself with people who support, inspire, and challenge you will help you get to the other side with vigor and more confidence.
When we surround ourselves with a community of like-minded individuals, we create a space where we can share our experiences, learn from one another, and grow together.
For example, every once in a while, I make it a point to reach out to my “big brothers” Micheal and Braxton, two rockstar IP attorneys working at Meta. They inspire me to keep going, especially when the challenge is beyond my comfort zone.
The right community can provide encouragement, guidance, and strength along the way.

One of the most interesting parts of the “in between” is the discovery of who you can become.
In a space where growth is not only inevitable but necessary, embrace the opportunity for personal development by setting goals, learning new skills, and challenging yourself in new ways.
Whether it's reading self-help books, attending workshops, or exploring new hobbies, seek out experiences that help you grow both personally and professionally.
As my team and I take Firm for the Culture in a new direction, we’re reading books and taking classes, all in efforts to provide more value to our growing client community of 200+ business owners and impact makers.
By focusing on growth, you'll cultivate resilience and build the foundation for a more fulfilling and purpose-driven life.
Celebrate the Small Wins, Trust the Journey.
Navigating the in-between is not comfortable.
But there's beauty in embracing each tiny victory.
In cherishing every step forward.
And in believing in your own transformation.
It's through these moments we blossom.
So, fellow impact makers, savor the small wins.
Have faith in the process.
For you're becoming the person you're destined to be.
