- That insider info (but not the illegal kind)

Starting With Failure
This is not our first foray into entrepreneurship.
In fact, Firm for the Culture started with a failure.
It’s easy to believe the founders you follow hit the ground running.
That we immediately saw “product-market” fit and that the brand took off like a rocket.
But that wasn’t the case for us.
Indeed, we started with a huge failure - we received two of the most difficult to overcome refusals issued by the USPTO:
(1) Likelihood of Confusion; and (2) Descriptiveness Refusal
Talk about a double whammy.
But there’s something interesting about failure, friends.
It can either push you to paralysis.
Or propel you to purpose.
After the initial shock, I pushed.
Read everything I could on the subject.
And wrote a 200+ page brief with tons of evidence to boot.
The USPTO was not a match for this Brooklyn girl.
After much back and forth, we got the trademark.
And we used that strategy to help over 160 clients get their trademark.
Why am I sharing this?
Because the road to purpose is not always smooth.
There will be times you’ll have to press in.
And push through.
Through adversity, I did both.
And, friend, you can too.
